Midnight Munchies
Hungry? Bruce Dawson takes us on a late-night tour.

It’s 3am, your liver is begging you to stop the onslaught of vodka Red Bulls, and you’re starving. We’ve all been there – meeting up with friends “just for a swifty” that turns into another epic night, until the rumbling of our stomachs starts to overpower the desire for stumbling into yet another bar. When the comedown starts and the munchies hit hard, take a page from our nightime nosh handbook.
Midnight
HIBIKI JAPANESE CUISINE SAKE BAR
The lowdown: Warm lighting, contemporary Japanese decor; choose between table service and the sushi bar in the back. Super-fresh fish, such as the soft-shell crab roll, comes in good-size portions and is made to order. A good healthy option for a late-night stop-off.
Who to take: Not bad for a date or business post-op, as it’s quiet enough for a chat; a bit less fun for an evening out with your mates, unless you take a crack at the wide range of sake.
Open daily until 2am. Knutsford Terrace, Kimberley Plaza, Tsim Sha Tsui, 2316-2884

INN SIDE OUT
The lowdown: The place can get pretty wild during sporting events, as it’s really three bars in one united by a courtyard of beer drinkers going mad with the free peanuts, the shells of which are everywhere underfoot. Otherwise, it’s just a big, fun pub, with decent comfort food at reasonable prices. You could really just spend the whole evening here.
Who to take: Your mates or the office hooligans, hands down. This is not the place for a romantic supper or appropriate for entertaining clients unless they’re pretty casual. Also a Mecca for sports fans during the Rugby Sevens, but be prepared to wait a loooong time for service, as it’s such a madhouse.
Open Sun-Thu until 1:30am, Fri-Sat 2am. G/F, Sunning Plaza, 10 Hysan Ave., Causeway Bay, 2895-2900
