JJ’s

This recently renovated three-storey bar is oozing with understated class. Decorated with dark wood paneling, the bar is a perfect place for the most elegant of lethal cocktails, the martini. Fancy yourself a connoisseur of the drink? Try the caviar martini – it’s the classy thing to do when you’ve run out of expensive things to eat and drink. The other specialty is the tiramisu martini – infused with Crème de Cacao and Kahlua, it’s a creamy, comforting way to slide into alcoholic oblivion. And hey, check out the live band Monday through Saturday.
Grand Hyatt, 1 Harbour Rd., Wan Chai, 2584-7662

Martini Bar

For utter and complete martini saturation, look no further. From the ever-popular lychee and chocolate flavors, to the enigmatic Babyface and Kyoto martinis, this place has one of the most extensive selections in Hong Kong. With over 80 different types, it’s no wonder the bartender has won awards for her martinis. A live band plays from Tuesday to Saturday, drawing a large and varied crowd of guests from the Royal Garden Hotel and good old TST randoms.
Royal Garden Hotel, 64 Mody Rd., Tsim Sha Tsui, 2733-2995

Felix

One of Hong Kong’s swankiest bars, Felix is located in the Peninsula and is thus literally situated at the height of sophistication. This place transports you to the set of a Bond film (or "Austin Powers" for the less aged among us). The design of the restaurant, bar and of course, the famed Philippe Starck toilet, all demand a visit at least once in your life. Of course, in true international-man-of-mystery style, the martini is not on the menu, but it can be requested by those in the know (for example, you). Expect to pay up to $130 if you have a taste for the expensive gins and vodkas.
28/F, The Peninsula Tower, Salisbury Rd., Tsim Sha Tsui, 2315-3188.
