Monochromatic Parisian chic is now available in Causeway Bay. Ink Clothing is a hot new boutique that’s receiving rave reviews from fashionistas all over town.

If you’re tired of following fashion’s fickle whims, you might want to take a dip in Ink, a brand-new clothing boutique that stocks cult Parisian labels with sleek, unfussy designs. With a focus on quality cuts and fabrics, these simple, elegant pieces can be worn for just about any occasion.
	Tired of mass-produced, disposable fashion, Ink’s founder Pita Cheng decided to set up the store to offer Hongkongers longwearing, unique and highly wearable pieces. “The idea came up while I was living in the UK. I saw the increasing feeling among European and American fashion bloggers who claimed the industry was becoming too commercialized and dominated by mega fashion week runway labels.”
	Driven by his desire to offer something other than the big, well-known brands, Cheng finally opened up Ink last month, to rave reviews. “Each piece at Ink is made with a high level of care and craftsmanship. Clients do not merely take home a piece of merchandise, but an appreciation for the textiles on hand,” he says.
	Cheng noticed an increase in the influence of underground labels that relied on quality over branding to make sales. “New interests drove a cult of designers to focus solely on quality in fabric and form rather than on brand advertising. Their passion for pure fashion made these designers a big hit,” he adds. Currently the store stocks around 15 labels, including Lumen et Umbra, Songzio and Guiliano Fujiwara.
	You won’t find a slavish devotionto the current whims of fashion at Ink. “You’d find shades of black, white or grey here because these tones are the most wearable and most classic. I don’t really have any criteria for selection—I just have to be drawn to it, while respecting the designer’s point of view. I’m very much drawn to non-colors and monochromatic designs,” he says. “I hope customers can leave the store with a smile, knowing a sound investment has been made.”
