A four-storey Japanese-franchised lifestyle store, providing household items from toys to handbags and stationery. Suitable for all ages of shoppers, it’s a great spot for those big family days out. Calling itself a ten-dollar heaven, the huge store actually sells items ranging from USD$1.30 to USD$12.80. Only items lacking a price tag are certified USD$1.30 goods.
Tip: The exchange rate of MOP to HKD is 1:1 in this store.

Rua de S. Domingos

This is the street where all of Macau’s international brands hock their wares. It’s a favorite among the young Macanese locals. With stores like Bauhaus, Body Shop, and Milan Station, you’ll feel like you’re walking around a mini-Causeway Bay.

Sun Star City

Ruo De Pedro Nolasco Da Silva, Macau

A hub of trendy fashion from local designers and clothing items imported from Korea and Japan – get yourself fashioned up for as little as USD$38. Items are slightly cheaper than those in Hong Kong, but you’ll have to hunt with a bit more patience to find the real treasures. The first two floors are comprised of watches, ranging from brands like Seiko and Tissot to high-end models like Cerruti. There’s also a large booth displaying hundreds of suit belts at low prices, a real bargain considering they’re all authentic leather.

Feme

2/F, Sun Star City, Ruo De Pedro Nolasco Da Silva, Macau, 2838-9296.
While AO also design a range of men’s bags, what differentiates this store is its special feminine line. Satchels, slings, wristlets and evening bags are all targeted towards a more mature crowd of ladies. While most designers in Hong Kong prefer bags in a plain, smart-casual style, here you’ll find a wide variety of purses made with a variety of fabrics. Prices range from USD$26-USD$64, but a 10 percent discount is almost a certainty.

AO Man

1/F, Sun Star City, Ruo De Pedro Nolasco Da Silva, Macau, 2838-9296.
AO Man has one-of-a-kind tote bags printed with contemporary graphic patterns. To build up hype, only 20 in each style were produced, each selling for around USD$26-USD$38 – significantly cheaper than your average Anya Hindmarch.

Cheap Buys

Sul do Mercado de S. Domingos / Rua Norte do Mercado de S. Domingos

Near Leal Senado Square
Like Mongkok’s ladies markets, these areas are filled with stalls selling clothes, towels, toys, and pseudo-Les Sportsac accessories. Try undergarment booth Lui Hung Kei. For over 35 years, they’ve been selling branded goods like Triumph bras at a discounted price of around USD$13. There’s also numerous fashion outlets along Rua Norte do Mercado de S. Domingos that sell American brands like Ecko and Ralph Lauren, with plenty of children’s wear for under USD$1.30.

Nam Wan District

Boutique-Modern Street

Rua do Pedro Jose Lobo, No. 2-16A Edf. Macau Plaza, R/C-J, Macau, 271-7083.
This is a two-storey boutique selling menswear on the first floor, and women’s on the second. It mainly imports European brands with prices ranging between USD$128-USD$257. Their strongest seller? Bling jeans with crystals, and embroidered tank tops. While boutiques of the same kind can also be found in Hong Kong, buyers in Macau usually vary their choices more than they do at home, and each boutique is different from the next. Try on the golden jeans if you dare.

While there is a selection of handbags and other accessories, chances are you’ll find better ones in Hong Kong at the same or at a lower price. That said, but make sure you head over now and take advantage of the 50 percent discounts.

Macau Square

43-45, Avenida De Infante De Henrique
A relatively new shopping and commercial center, the square is encouraging young entrepreneurs with rent as low as USD$193 per month. Since only the first two floors are occupied, the mall doesn’t really have a lot to see, but this area could get a lot better soon.

Hua Han Costume House

1/F, 43-53, Avenida do Infante D. Henrique, Macau Square, 6613-1885
Many might have pegged the qipao or the cheongsam as the Chinese national dress, but that honor actually belongs to the Hanfu, a style of clothing worn between Zhou and Ming dynasties. According to storeowner Mr. Ng, qipaos and cheongsams were originally worn by the Manchurians when they took over China, and it was only when the Han Chinese were forced to desert the Hanfu that they began to wear the cheongsam. Most of these Hanfus were tailor-made, with specific patterns worked in by hand on request. Prices vary between USD$64-USD$257, depending on materials and fabrics used. Some Han accessories, calligraphy and Chinese paintings are also for sale.

Mochi

Shop A1, 1/F, Macau Square, No.43-53 Avenida do Infante D. Henrique, 2822-0235,www.mochi-jp.com
A brightly lit condom store providing a wide variety of prophylactics to suit every one of your tastes. New Road District / Almeida Ribeiro

Wing Tai Antiquario

No. 103 Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro (New Road), 285-7365
Vintage Shanghai advertising posters have become a much sought-after item. From Sunmaid Raisins to Sunlight Soap and hundreds of brands of cigarettes, the Man Dai Antique store stocks more vintage-ladies-posing-sexily than you can imagine, with prices ranging from USD$103-USD$3860 each. There’s also a bunch of Chairman Mao collectables, old photos taken in the Qing Dynasty, slightly rusted vintage Lux soap containers and foot-binding shoes.
