In the cutthroat race for domination in the smartphone market, Research-In-Motion is hoping to launch itself back into the forefront with its new product, the Blackberry Torch 9800, which comes complete with the new Blackberry 6 operating system. With all the usual gadgets that come along with your everyday smartphone, the new Blackberry Torch meets the mobile needs of socially connected consumers (or highly insecure teenagers) and business customers alike. This is the company’s first slider smartphone, combining a large touch screen with Blackberry’s signature QWERTY keyboard that slides out from underneath. Users can also take advantage of Blackberry’s new Chinese handwriting software.
The Blackberry Torch is now available for pre-ordering and costs $5,988. Customers who pre-order will receive a special gift package with a value of $700. Find a list of retailers at blackberry.com.
