Nightlife is So Gay
Warning, betches: the columns for this week and the next are going to be gay like a Dolce & Gabbana menswear ad campaign.

Warning, betches: the columns for this week and the next are going to be gay like a Dolce & Gabbana menswear ad campaign. Yes, November is gay gay gay, with the inception of HKLGFF (that’s Hong Kong Lesbian Gay Film Festival) last Friday, then lesbians at LaKage for the Girl’s Opening Gala Party by Les Pêches, then the GBH Fall PINK Party at Bassment the next day, and of course, Volume’s album launch and fourth anniversary extravaganza. Don’t forget Mr. Gay HK at Hyde this Friday!
If you can’t stand two weeks of pure faggotry in motion (to quote my amiga Bryanboy) y’all can proceed and read the sheer breeder fabulousness that is the Straight Man. No, I shan’t alienate my dear hetero fans—you account for 80 percent of my fan base. You’re all hot, plus, you’ll perpetuate yet another generation of young readers for me, according to my immortal gay agenda.
So here’s my straight agenda: I went to The Place in Kennedy Town after hot pot at Neptune’s on Wednesday (fiercely fresh seafood). At the K-Town watering hole, we mingled with the locals, including James, one of the owners of Lime (now in SoHo!). I’ve been meaning to visit as my craving for authentic Thai had usurped my usual Korean cravings ever since I got back from Koh Samui (and blame it on the Bangkok). And James gave me another reason to head up to Lime: Tom yum cocktails. YES na krap!
Then this drunken Belgian guy wanted me to remove my hat. Bitch, please. You must be new in town. STFU. He was relentless in his curiosity, so I told him I’d take my hat off if he took his pants off. Being drunk and Belgian, he did, and stood at the entrance of The Place with his pants down (shitty underwear). My friends laughed at him. So I honored my promise and took my hat off. Sigh.
Back to the gay—Volume Saturday. Lil’ background info: Club Anthems Asia is a continuous mixset of over 20 floor-filling house and electro tracks, all written and produced in-house by Volume’s DJ Stonedog, with vocals from local artists like Gretchell Yaneza, MC Gold Mountain, and if you’re an amoeba living underneath a rock and haven’t heard yet, yes, Johannes. Applause.
Tons of cheap-ass bastards loitered outside, not wanting to pay $300—when it was free flow from 9pm-11pm, live shows around every half hour from a selection of Volume Up artists (I wasn’t performing… just there to drink and autograph). PLUS you get a personal copy of the two-CD album with that price. Yeah, thanks for supporting the music and the local GLBT community, bitch. I hope you enjoyed your ONE drink that came with the staggering cover you paid at Propaganda.
