Szeto Wah 1931-2011

Szeto Wah dies of cancer at the age of 79. Known for his extraordinary courage and relentless defence in support of democratic movements in China. Wah has worked tirelessly during his political career spanning four decades in order to help found the Democratic Party, Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements in China and Professional Teachers' Union. "Uncle Wah" unabashedly spoke out against the June 4th 1989 crackdown in Tiananmen Square. Wah's last words to Hong Kong was to vindicate the June 4 movement and continue the fight for democracy.

A public memorial service will be held at Tsim Sha Tsui Basptist Church on January 28. A private funeral will be at St. Andrew's Church on January 29.
