Ex-governor Mr. Patten’s favorite egg tart shop, Tai Cheong Bakery, is expanding like there’s no tomorrow! (Can I dream that my egg tart story a few weeks ago had something to do with it? Hehe.) This time, their newest shop is in Hung Hom and there’re so many chains now I’m starting to lose count. Tai Cheong is managed under the Tao Heung group these days, making it as standardized as any other big corporation, but that hasn’t stopped the people from loving and queuing up for the buttery crusted, bright yellow tarts. I can tell you that Tai Cheong also sells a whole range of other pastries such as almond cookies and butterfly crisps, but if you’re like most others, it’s really only the tarts that matter.
