Mr. Know- It-All, Week of August 26, 2011
For the life of me I do not know where I can buy a plastic laundry basket—the kind that you can find everywhere in the U.S. but is impossible to find in Hong Kong. Can you help?
Dear Mr. Know-It-All,
My mom gave me a couple of her rings, but my fingers are much too large to fit into them. Where can I trust to get them safely refitted in Central or Hang Hau? — Antique Chic
You seriously want to go through all the trouble to re-size your mom’s old hand-me-down rings? If I were you I wouldn’t bother. But I guess it has some sort of sentimental value to you, so I’ll help you out. Unfortunately, there aren’t many places in Hang Hau who’ll help you re-size your rings as they only offer that service for their own products. Luckily for you, there are two places in Central that you can go to. David Kingsboro Jewelry (Shop C and D, 2/F, Entertainment Building, 30 Queen’s Rd. Central, 2522-0203) specializes in hand-made bespoke jewelry and provides professional jewelry services including ring resizing. You can also give Mr. Tam from Kok Wah Jewelry a call (Shop 107, 1/F, 97 Wellington St., Central, 9095-3022, 2544-2462). Call his mobile if you are setting up an appointment.
