The Pink Season and Gagaween
It all started unofficially last weekend with Mr. Gay HK 2011, the third one since its inception. This year, they had fashion blogger Valerie Soh and host of RTHK’s Morning Brew chat show Phil Whelan as hetero MCs (hey, the LGBT community is inclusive like that). I was invited on stage to take over as a celebrity guest commentator even though I have already been on the front lines...
Hey bitches! Did y’all miss the scene gossip? Was I getting too cunning linguistic on y’all? Here’s an old-fashioned 8 Down this week!
So Joyce, Lane Crawford and Harvey Nichols—our three fashion retail giantesses—had a party/event throwdown last week. Harvey Nichols finally opened at Pacific Place with a random Donald Tsang ribbon-cutting ceremony, Joyce’s Causeway Bay flagship launched at Lee Gardens with a horde of chic young passionistas vying for best-dressed, and Lane Crawford LAB invited Theory’s Belgian designer of the mo’ Olivier Theyskens (and his pretty, pretty long hair) over for cocktails at the Tsim Sha Tsui store, culminating in a fabulous l’after at the handsome Hullett House.
What did I wear? It doesn’t really matter because I didn’t go to any of those events (fashion PRs, please keep me on the invite list—as you can see, I still mentioned the parties in this column; muah!) as I was still recovering from last weekend’s Nightlife.
OK, so I said I’d swear off Nightlife in this new column space, but yes, I fell into that lush abyss of decadence yet again. The pull of the black hole was too great. Actually, it wasn’t a black hole; it was a pink one. Yes, the first Pink Season has descended upon Hong Kong.
It’s not like that “Straight Man” Yalun Tu is going to report any of this. Although, I’ve heard that Mr. Gay HK 2011 first runner-up Bridge Hudson is a regular attendee at the wild orgiastic parties the Straight Man throws at his straight man’s apartment. Maybe they’re not so orgiastic, or wild. Nevermind.

I must say, Bisous has been the best venue so far, with a lovely little runway for me to werq it.
