Pan-Dem Panning

Pity the pan-dems. The only people in town with half a clue about moving Hong Kong forward and addressing the city’s long-term problems came undone in last Sunday’s District Council elections, with 13 pan-democrats losing their seats. There are many factors to blame, including inter-party squabbling, a muddled platform and the Civic Party’s much-criticized court case pushing for civil rights for domestic helpers. Maybe next time they’ll heed some of our satirical tips and pick up a few extra seats.
