To commemorate World Aids Day on the 1st of December, 1800 employees of M∙A∙C cosmetics worldwide are volunteering to work with, help or simply visit HIV positive people.
HIV positive individuals are the beneficiaries of the M∙A∙C Aids Fund (MAF), which was established in 1994 to support men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS globally. The fund is raised through the sale of M∙A∙C's Viva Glam line, which donates 100% of its proceeds.
To date, the MAF has raised over USD 228 million. In Hong Kong, Viva Glam sales have exceeded HKD 5.3 million since 1996. These funds have been used to support local programs including The Hong Kong Society for AIDS Care, which they have been supporting for 10 years.
M∙A∙C staff in Beijing will gather with UNICEF-China and local HIV positive people to bake muffins, to help address the issue of acceptance of HIV positive people as part of our society. Malaysia will host a retreat for women and children who receive services from The Sarawak AIDS Concern Society, playing games and teaching make-up techniques to the attendees. Children at the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation in Australia will be treated to face painting by M∙A∙C Artists.
In Hong Kong, MAC artists will be distributing red ribbons and condoms to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS. Show your support by purchasing a Viva Glam lipstick or lipglass.
