Yes, we know that Christmas hasn’t even begun yet, but watch out—the very second that last shred of festive wrapping paper is thrown away, the question of New Year’s parties comes up. So plan ahead and don’t get stuck going to your cousin’s lame house party again this year—make sure you’ve booked your ticket at one of the biggest bashes in town.

Sevva

Spend New Year’s Eve at Sevva, which is hosting an eight-course banquet and providing entertainment by Dutch singer, dancer and magician Sandy Kandau. She’ll put on a one-woman show of quick-change costumes, all while singing the latest hits. Also taking the stage is Metro, a US-based acapella group who’ll be performing hits from just about every genre. As for the food? After a glass of Krug Grande Cuvee champagne, you’ll be bombarded with multiple courses of baby squid ink farfalle with sweet peas and lily bulb, kurobuta pork chop in prunes, and ending on a sweet note with fresh fruits and pear bavarois.
25/F, Prince’s Building, 10 Chater Rd., Central, 2537-1388, www.sevva.hk. RSVP: [email protected].

Tango

Dance the night away, Latin-style, at this Argentinean steakhouse during its gala New Year’s Eve Party. Cabaret dancers will take to the floor to deliver special performances while a DJ spins exotic Latin rhythms all night long. Choose from a five-course dinner with or without free flow drinks that includes dishes like beef sirloin empanadas, grilled octopus salad with roasted chili dressing, Argentinean fire-grilled tenderloin (there’s gotta be steak, of course) and more, finished off with a cool Argentinean-style chocolate marquise. Dinner will run you back $688 per person, or for $988 it’ll also include the all-night open bar. Reservations are essential.
1/F, 77 Wyndham St., Central, 2525-5808. RSVP: [email protected].

Hullett House

This year, the Aqua Group’s heritage-rich hotel has partnered with Dim Sum and Then Some to throw a “Hollywood Glamor” event. Come dressed as your favorite movie star and walk the red carpet along a mock Walk of Fame and into the hotel courtyard for a night to remember. Entertainment will be provided by the Starlight Dancers, who will be dressed as iconic Hollywood celebrities. They’ll be accompanied by a live jazz band, as well as DJ Hallex, who’ll be playing modern electro-swing. Tickets are $300 in advance and $380 at the door. To soak up all the booze, there’s an option to take part in the “Suzie Wong”-themed standing buffet, which will be on offer from 9:30pm-11:30pm. Tickets for that are $620 in advance and $690 at the door, which includes access to the courtyard.
