Luxury brand Dolce & Gabanna witnessed a full-scale demonstration over the weekend with over 1,000 angry protestors outside their flagship store in Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Dolce & Gabbana has been accused of racial discrimination towards the Hong Kong public (didn’t the fashion power house experience a slightly more high profile case of anti-Semitism back in Feb 2011?) as local members of the public were banned from taking photographs of their storefront.
The international fashion brand is claiming the ban is based on copyright infringement; however according to multiple reports, Mainland Chinese customers remain permitted to take photos.
This has sparked an angry reaction from the Hong Kong public and a protest planned for last Saurday (7/1/12) quickly gained momentum through Facebook. Over 1,000 supporters turned up at the closed designated store, demanding an apology. Protesters waved placards with slogans such as ‘Dog & 豬’ (‘ju’ meaning pig) and some mockingly displaying their Chinese Yuan bank notes, shouting at the shop to open up so they can buy their products.
It even attracted one individual to dress up as Iron Man (see below) to affirm the need for justice and local rap artist Arho Sunny to create a protest song.
The protest has attracted the attention of newspapers worldwide. An official apology from D&G still has not been issued to the public.

Another protest is being planned to take place for next Sunday.
