Miss Piggy
Possibly the world’s most famous pig, Miss Piggy made her screen debut in the legendary Muppet Show in the 1970s and has since become one of the biggest TV stars. Before the Hong Kong release of “The Muppets,” the first Muppet movie in 12 years, the voluptuous diva tells Penny Zhou—in her trademark high pitch—about the film, her beauty secrets and her love for Kermit. HK Magazine: What were the most difficult and most fun parts of shooting “The Muppets” movie?
Miss Piggy: The most difficult part of the movie is waiting! Moi must wait in my extremely large and luxurious star trailer, getting massages, taking naps, eating chocolates, signing autographs and making unreasonable Hollywood star demands. It’s all very exhausting. And then, finally, they are ready for me on the set! Lights! Action! Moi! That’s the fun part. Especially if I’m doing a romantic scene with Kermit.
HK: How was the experience of working with Jason Segel and Amy Adams? Do you think the lovely Amy outshines you in the movie?
Piggy: Excuse moi!? Outshine moi!? Hardly! Don’t get me wrong, Amy is an incredibly talented and attractive star, just like moi, only not quite as talented or attractive. But Amy is the co-star and I am the star. Get it? Got it? Good! By the way, Amy and I adore each other. And neither of us could figure out what Jason was doing, but it was nice to have him around—if only to go get us stuff.
HK: We’ve just entered 2012. What’s your New Year’s resolution?
Piggy: I’m on a diet. I’ve resolved to not eat anything I can’t lift. Fortunately for moi, I can bench press a dessert cart.
HK: Here’s something everyone wants to know: what does 2012 hold for Piggy and Kermit?
Piggy: I hold Kermie and he holds moi. We are inseparable, as always. I can tell you that this year we are destined for even more fabulously over-hyped romantic trysts, rendezvous, and scandals! Watch this space for details!
HK: We know that Kermit is the love of your life, but do you have celebrity crushes?
Piggy: For moi, there is only Kermie. However, I do have teensy-weensy crushes on a few other cute guys like Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Javier Bardem, David Beckham, Patrick Dempsey, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Johnny Depp… This is taking too long, I’ll send you the complete list later.
HK: You’ve stayed young and glamorous for over three decades. What’s your secret?
Piggy: Three decades? Really?! And I look younger than ever, if I do say so myself… And I do. How do I stay so young looking? Simple—like most leading ladies in Hollywood, I’ve been re-built from scratch several times.
