Hiram To

With a career spanning 25 years, Hiram To is a Hong Kong-born contemporary artist known for conceptual works overlaid with sociopolitical commentary. He was also one of three artists to represent Hong Kong at the 52nd Venice Biennale in 2007. During the run of his new solo exhibition, “Garlands,” a surprisingly personal and light-hearted photography series featuring his own mother, he talks to Penny Zhou about Hong Kong’s art scene, what it takes to be an artist and his massive vinyl collection.
