Dragonair Adds Yangon to Destination List

Local carrier Dragonair announced last week that it will start regular service from Hong Kong to Yangon, Myanmar's biggest city, for the first time, starting January 9, 2013.

As Myanmar, also called Burma, starts showing signs of democracy and slowly opens up to the western world, international travelers are starting to take an interest in travel to the formerly closed-off, ethically questionable nation. Pending government approval, the new Dragonair flights will operate every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Yangon is the 10th additional destination to be added to Dragonair’s flight service this year. From October 28 onwards, just in time for the holiday season, Dragonair is increasing the frequency of its flights to other destinations. There will be 10 flights a week to Phnom Penh and six flights to Kota Kinabalu.

Also as of October 28, the airline also plans to resume flights to Haikou, on Hainan Island in China.
