The New Spanish Dining Scene in Hong Kong
Our city is head-over-heels in love with the dishes of Spain, which is evident in the spate of tapas- and paella-related openings these past months.

Near the end of last year, Spanish private kitchen Comilonas (Flat 22, 1/F, Yip Cheong Building, 4-16 Hill Rd., Shek Tong Tsui, 9863-2270) made a big splash on the dining scene, serving delectable Catalonian fare in an intimate apartment in a nondescript block in Shek Tong Tsui.
Shortly after, Plaza Mayor (9 Moon St., Wan Chai, 2866-6644) followed with cheery, Old World-vibe noshery complete with checkered floors and marble-top tables.
Earlier this summer, Barcelonan native Edgar Sanuy Barahona opened BCN (G/F, 37 Peel St., Central, 2811-2851), a 12-seater in SoHo that provides two meticulously prepared multi-course tasting menus each night. Chef Edgar cooks many dishes right in front of his guests, who are all perched around the surrounding bar table, which makes for an especially intimate experience.
