Fundraising for the Lazy

Raising money for charity is just getting easier these days, and with the Pure Fitness “Stride for a Cure” campaign, you really don’t have an excuse not to get off your butt and raise money for the Hong Kong Cancer Fund. From November 10 to 18, members and non-members alike are welcome to visit a Pure Fitness location, hop on a treadmill or stationary bike, lift some weights or take a group fitness class, and raise money for charity by a) paying a $100 subscription fee; and b) raising a minimum of $500 in sponsorship. See? You don’t have to get up early to run a marathon, grow facial hair or bungee jump off the Macau Tower to be a philanthropist.

Freakish Facial
I got an email inviting me to try a—wait for it—human placenta facial this week. EURGH! I can’t decide what’s more disturbing, the fact that people actually smear “essence of human entrails” on their faces in a bid to look younger, or that the 55-minute treatment is $3,900. What do you think, readers? Are human placenta facials as gross as I think they are, or am I overreacting?
