New Restaurants Zanzo, Cielo, and Tze Yuet Heen and Western-style Dish Cooking Classes

Watch Out For…

New resto in Tai Hang! Zanzo (15-16 School St., Tai Hang, 2750-6490) is an awesome-looking, new Japanese hangout in the ‘hood opened by the Miramar group. There’s a posh bar in the middle of the rectangle-shaped space for some after-hours sake drinking—it helps to know that “Zanzo,” translated from Japanese, is supposed to mean the blurred vision that you experience after becoming inebriated, or something along those lines. Apart from imports, Zanzo also stocks its own label of sake made from a brewery in Hokkaido. The food is mostly Japanese, and you’ll be able to get sashimi, wagyu beef salads and funkier dishes such as sautéed fresh prawns with Japanese spicy soy sauce.

Hotels are popping up like crazy, and Kowloon-side is no exception. Both Cielo and Tze Yuet Heen (Crowne Plaza Hong Kong Kowloon East, 3 Tong Tak St., Tsueng Kwan O, 3983-0388) are two new restos to watch for at the newly opened Crowne Plaza in Tseung Kwan O. The first is on the 47th floor of the hotel and offers a rooftop alfresco Italian experience as well as a cocktail area, while the second is a traditional dim sum restaurant on the second floor.
