Things to do in Hong Kong to Fit Every Budget

It’s a cliché, but yes, Hong Kong is a city of extremes. Whether you want to live the high life or have fun on a dime, you can have (almost) the same lifestyle for two very different budgets. Wanna (literally) get high and/or low? There’s always something to match your lifestyle—and your budget.

Catered Junk Trips

If you’re going to sail the high seas, better do it in style. The Michelangelo (6621-1691, www.luxurysuperjunk.com) is what you get if you squeeze tropical hardwoods, brass and copper into an 80-foot-long junk mold. It spreads 4,000 square feet over three decks and five cabins, and will happily accommodate 59 revelers—who should probably think about spreading the cost, as a day-long charter starts at $23,000, while a buffet menu with drink starts at $550 per head. Custom menus available on request.

If you’re going to sail the high seas, better save a bit of money while you’re doing it. HK stalwart Koh Thai (3160-8535, www.kohthai.com.hk) owns four junks that take from 28 to 45 people, and they’ll feed you well as you waft towards your destination of choice. They’re offering an everything-included package for $580 per head, with boat, Thai food and drinks. Anchors aweigh!

Buy some art

The Affordable Art Fair is over. Time for some unaffordable art. Toddle along to White Cube (50 Connaught Rd. Central, 2592-2000, www.whitecube.com) and pick up any old Damien Hirst they might have lying around. Last count put one at about half a million HK.
