Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Hong Kong

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and businesses all over Hong Kong are pulling out all the stops to raise funds and awareness of the disease, which affects one in 19 women worldwide. Here are some of my favorite promotions doing the rounds this month.

Agnes B’s dining outlets (Le Pain Grille and Café L.P.G) are offering a line of pink desserts throughout October. 50 percent of the sales will go to the Hong Kong Hereditary Breast Cancer Family Registry (HKBCFR).

Local hair and beauty maestro Kim Robinson has released a limited-edition lipstick set. All proceeds go to the Hong Kong Cancer Fund (HKCF). The lipsticks cost $880 (regular price $1,600) and are on sale at all Lane Crawford stores and at the Kim Robinson studio, 106 Chater House, 8 Connaught Rd. Central, 2121-8484.

Fine Foods, the patisserie at the Royal Garden Hotel, is selling a 16-piece box of pink strawberry and raspberry macarons at $220, with all proceeds going to the HKCF. There are only 100 boxes available, so get ‘em while you can. 69 Mody Rd., Tsim Sha Tsui, 2721-5215.

The Peninsula is a huge supporter of the event, with the hotel lit pink for the entire month of October. It has a ton of deals, but my personal favorite is at Felix, where early bird diners from 6pm-8pm can have a pink-themed three-course meal for $388 ($468 plus a glass of rose or a pink cocktail). All proceeds go to the HKBCFR. Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, 2920-2888.

Over in Macau, The Conrad is doing a multi-pronged fundraising campaign, with extremely cute rubber duckie and bear toys available (MOP98 and MOP88) for sale, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the HKCF. Alternatively, you can go for a pink-themed afternoon tea set, which comes in three different categories: Classic (MOP168, including MOP20 donation), Premium (MOP188, MOP20 donation) or Deluxe (MOP238, MOP50 donation). Alternatively, spring for a room upgrade at MOP288 or MOP688 (both include a MOP80 donation) to get a room upgrade (to a city view room or a suite, respectively), late checkout, free Wi-Fi and either a complimentary pink afternoon tea or welcome drinks, depending on your upgrade. The entire hotel will be lit pink for the entire month. Sands Cotai Central, Cotai Strip, Macau, (+853) 2882-9000.
