	60 Seconds for… Taipei
Eat your way through Taipei at the night markets: there’s Shilin, Raohe and Shida, plus a dozen more. Make time for a sit-down meal at the original Din Tai Fung, which started as a cooking oil retailer and grew into a dumpling empire. Tuck in some sightseeing on the side, with the towering Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and National Palace Museum as the main events. Don’t bother paying to go up the Taipei 101 unless you particularly love indistinguishable cityscapes. Instead, spend your money downing Taiwan Beers and listening to 60s rock and 80s punk at Roxy Rocker, where the walls are covered by more than 10,000 vinyl albums. Time permitting, take a ride on the Maokong Gondola for some tea tasting and lush panoramas, or make your way to the Baitu Hot Springs, where you can dip into a public bath or go private at the day spas scattered along the roads—look for Poetry Among the Trees.
60 Seconds for… Tuscany
Weave between the enotecas of the region, sampling the exceedingly drinkable chianti classico and the area’s peppery olive oil. Visit the tower-filled town of San Gimignano, climb to the top of the Torre Grossa for incredible views of the countryside, then reward yourself with a hazelnut or saffron gelato from the Gelateria Dondoli. Follow it with dinner on the terrace at Le Vecchie Mura, overlooking a panorama of the countryside. Visit Siena for the Palio horse race (July 2 and August 16, yearly), when jockeys thunder bareback through the scallop-shaped Piazza del Campo. Lose yourself in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence (for god’s sake book tickets in advance), visit the leather school for gorgeous (and expensive) leather goods—or the Salvatore Ferragamo flagship store to pay still more.
60 Seconds for… Singapore
Take a stroll through Chinatown and then get pleasantly lost checking out the holy sites on nearby Pagoda, Mosque and Temple Streets. While you’re in the area, refuel at one of the colorful shophouse bars and restaurants on tucked-away Club Street. Do the Night Safari—it’s wildly popular for a reason. Have lunch at a cooked food center; they’re all good. Spend an afternoon contemplating the marine life at the SEA Aquarium, wander through the 250-acre Gardens by the Bay, take a picture of Marina Bay Sands (it’s only natural) and then head to the W Singapore—Sentosa Cove for cocktails.

Find the city’s hippest food at Saturday’s Maltby Street market, dine 40 floors up all night long at Duck & Waffle, or get an unmatched view from the 72nd floor of The Shard. Get the best lamb chops you’ll ever have from Tayyabs (BYOB; pair it with a peshwari naan) or sip a pint of bitter at The Harp in Covent Garden. Catch a stage show in the West End, feast your eyes on couture at the V&A Museum, gawk at reality stars in Whiskey Mist, and go on a tour of the Sipsmith gin distillery. Groan when you realize how much cabs cost.
60 Seconds for… Kota Kinabalu
Choose your own adventure in this tropical paradise with a lazy day on a private island or a hike up to the top of Mount Kinabalu. You can’t go wrong with the Malay cuisine at the waterfront Filipino Market, or a traditional meal at Restoran Sempelang. If you have an extra day, take a daytrip to the Mari Mari Cultural Village: endearingly kitschy and full of historical tidbits. Rest your head at the eco-friendly Gaya Island Resort, with its own private beach. Or stay at Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria, home to a nature reserve complete with an orangutan sanctuary. That’s right: baby monkeys.
