Best Face Forward

While Flawless may have won best mani-pedi in The List’s Readers’ Choice Awards this year, it actually does great facials as well. With the caveat that I won’t put anything scary on my face (well, except bee venom, but that’s a story for later), I got to try the Flawless facial experience the other week. Rather than choosing from a menu, the spa will book you in for a certain length of time, and the therapist in charge of your treatment will take a look at your skin and recommend a course of action with their three brands: Aromatherapy Associates, Algotherm and cosmeceutical brand Medik8, which is exclusive to the spa. My therapist recommended a “Bespoke” Aromatherapy Associates treatment ($980), which was administered by an expert hand and came with some useful advice on what my skin needs to look its best—apparently I would benefit from products containing Vitamin A. First-time visitors get 30 percent off all facials until November 30.

Shopping Night!

Put October 25 in your diary: there's an “Authentic Apparel” pop-up bazaar at The Space in Sheung Wan. Lasting from 6pm-11pm, there will be lots of yoga gear on offer from local brands such as Aura and Omberry. Also available will be swimsuits from Itsie Bitsie, if you’re looking for a little something for your next trip to Thailand. Tickets are $180 in advance through info@aura-asia.com or $200 on the door, with food, drinks, DJs, a fashion show and goodie bags to encourage you to shop late into the evening.

Find out more at on their Facebook page.

Any Net-a-Porter in a Storm

If you’ve always wanted to dip your toe into the world of online shopping, but felt too nervous to hand over your credit card, then Net-a-Porter’s cosmetics offerings may be a good place to start. With no crippling rents to pay, you’ll get a better deal than you’ll find in retail stores. And let’s face it; buying a face cream online is far less daunting than ordering a Givenchy handbag. There are tons of cult beauty brands available, including Lucas Pawpaw, which does a wildly popular multi-purpose ointment ($78 per tube); Kevyn Aucoin, the cosmetics line of the late guru who shaped modern makeup; and Charlotte Tilbury, who creates hard-working, multi-use makeup that can be quickly applied between meetings, at a desk—or in a taxi. On the website, Charlotte Tilbury’s products are divided into themed kits with everything you need to create a look, from the sun-kissed glow of “Golden Goddess” to the deep red lips and dramatic brows of “Vintage Vamp.” The seven-piece kits are $2,360 each and include a blusher, eyeshadow compact, eyeliner, mascara, lip gloss, lipstick and lipliner. Keep checking back; Net-a-Porter plans to unroll even more products for hair, skin and nails in the coming months. And yes, it has an office in Hong Kong and its own dedicated site for the city.
