JW Marriott’s Flint Grill & Bar, Harlan Goldstein’s Comfort, Madam S’Ate at Elements and The Great Big Turkey Feast

New…
It’s too-da-loo to JW Marriott’s California, and hallooooo to Flint Grill & Bar (5/F, JW Marriott Hotel, Pacific Place, 88 Queensway, Admiralty, 2810-8366), a large, modern space dedicated to large, American dishes. Head chef Sven Heinrich Wunram hails from Germany, and fires up a nightly storm in his open kitchen. Nebraska steaks, bone-in; fennel seed-crusted Berkshire black pork chop; house-cured salmon; Boston lobster, baked Thermidor-style…it’s extreme surf ‘n’ turf at this latest addition to the hotel’s ambitious repertoire.

Hotpot, claypot rice, stonepot rice: keyword “pot.” Find them all at Canton Pot (see our dining feature, here).
Harlan Goldstein’s Strip House will be replaced by another Harlan-styled venture: Comfort (5/F, Grand Progress Building, 15-16 Lan Kwai Fong, Central). It’ll be an almost east-meets-west type of deal, with beef brisket curry co-existing alongside English sausages and gravy. One more item, not to be missed: a hoisin-sauce-glazed pork belly #hkbao.
Madam S’Ate (Civic Square, Elements, 1 Austin Rd. West, West Kowloon, 2537-7555) is finally open at Elements’ Civic Square, doing what the brand does best: quirky contemporary French. A spin-off of Madam Sixty Ate at J Senses, MS will be headed by chef George Scott Toft from New Zealand. It’s offering an all-day menu as well as weekend brunch, plus alfresco space.
