Albani Kitchen

New…

Nosh (G/F, 11 Upper Station St., Sheung Wan, 2559-8508) is in its soft opening stages, offering a casual space to eat breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. You can order yogurts, crepes, eggs of all styles, cold cuts, cheeses, pastries and generally lighter fare at this western diner, while nursing a milkshake, smoothie or a fancy coffee.

Tabi Bito (G/F, 20 Po Hing Fong, Sheung Wan)—where Corner Kitchen used to be—is boarded up as we speak, but promises to deliver a cool Japanese dining experience once the scaffolding comes down. Meanwhile Corner Kitchen (G/F, 21 New St., Sheung Wan, 2803-2822) has moved down the hill to New Street, and continues to offer private dining sessions and cooking classes in all sorts of cuisines.

…and Noted

Learn all about the white truffle, then indulge in a five-course truffle-topped meal at Albani Kitchen (Unit A, 16/F, World Trust Tower, 50 Stanley St., Central, 3583-1543), where you can sign on for a White Truffle Appreciation class at $1,080 per head. The next one is on Dec 11, and entitles each student to 3 grams of white truffles to be sprinkled onto their blue lobsters, scallops and Amazonian paiche fish courses. During the class, you’ll learn about the characteristics of white truffles, and how to prepare them for cooking. But let’s be honest: you’re just here to eat 3 grams of white truffle, aren’t you?

‘Tis the season for designer afternoon tea sets. Cakemaster Bonnae Gokson has designed some adorable pastries for her collaboration with fashion label Lanvin, available at Sevva (25/F, Prince’s Building, 10 Chater Rd., Central, 2537-1388) from now until Dec 30. Tuck into bejeweled and bedazzled coconut chiffon cakes, éclairs, finger rolls, ham and brie sandwiches, and espresso cheesecakes—and get a gift voucher for a USB key or mirror at the end of the meal. $680 for two; comes with a glass of Veuve Rose.

Stepping up the game, the Ritz-Carlton (International Commerce Centre, 1 Austin Rd. West, West Kowloon, 2263-2270) and diamond jeweler Graff have teamed up for a heartstopping $10,880 set for two that includes financiers made with Tahitian vanilla, Dom Perignon jelly, Osetra caviar, foie gras “apples,” black-truffle-topped chocolate, panna cotta dotted with bird’s nest and gold leaf… you get the idea.
Personal butler included as part of the whole experience. The tea set can be served out of a luxury trunk decked out in jewels and Graff accessories, if you so wish. Available from Jan 1 onwards.
