Fill a shoebox and help the homeless this Christmas
Here’s something simple you can do to channel your inner Santa Claus: fill a shoebox with basic necessities for Hong Kong's homeless, drop it in one of the bars below, and enjoy drink deals or mulled wine on the house at participating venues.

I can only imagine that feelings of isolation and loneliness for the homeless are heightened as Christmas approaches,” says co-organizer Rob McGovern. “So, a small gift—almost regardless of what is inside the box—might in some way make the homeless people realize that people do care about them.”
It’s an incredibly simple idea: fill a shoebox, or something of that size, with basic necessities such as a tube of toothpaste, a toothbrush, soap, non-perishable snacks and perhaps even a beanie or a scarf, and drop it off at participating outlets (a full list of goods to include, as well as participating outlets, can be found at www.facebook.com/insidetheboxhk)

McGovern admits there’s nothing special about “Inside the Box.” “In fact, it is the familiarity with this kind of appeal that I hope will lead to it being a success,” McGovern says. “We are simply asking people to spend a little money and a little time to do something nice for someone less fortunate than themselves at Christmas.”
As an added sweetener, many of the collection points (find a full list at here) are offering a special Christmas promotion for anyone who drops off a box on certain days next week.
