What are all of the auspicious numbers?

Auspicious numbers confuse me. I understand that “4” is unlucky and “8” is good news: but is that all there is to it? – Number Wang

It’s simple, Number Wang. Auspicious numbers have nothing to do with numerology at all. In fact, it’s all to do with homophones. What Cantonese numbers sound like is what’s most important.

Here are a few worth knowing:

3: Lucky. Sounds like “birth,” or “life.”

4: Unlucky. Sounds like “death.” Best expressed in older buildings that lack a 4th floor, or indeed, any floor numbers containing “4” at all.
