Eat Soul Food
For excellent Thai food in a hip setting, hit up Soul Food Mahanakorn (56/10 Sukhumvit, Soi 55, (+66) 2714-7708). Popular with both locals and tourists, it serves up mouthwatering dishes such as pork neck salad and stir-fried lamb with jasmine rice. Plus, the cocktail pours are extra generous.
Cruise the City
Being stuck in Bangkok’s infamous traffic can take up a ton of time. River boats are a great way of getting around the problem and soaking up the sights. Head to the Sathorn Central Pier (near Saphan Taksin BTS station), which offers a number of boat routes past the likes of China Town and backpackers’ haven Khao San Road.
Dine Discreetly
For an intimate evening, visit Thai resto Paste (120/6 Soi Song Phi Nong, Sukhumvit Soi 49, Klongton Nua, (+66) 2392-4313). We love the super-spicy jellyfish salad with shredded chicken and braised beef ribs with ginger. Nestled in a quiet soi, it’s a little bit tricky to find—take a motorcycle or taxi from the Thong Lo BTS station.
