Arts Preview: Art Basel and Hong Kong's Artiest Weekend

Unless you’ve been living under a particularly big rock, you’ll know that next weekend is art weekend in Hong Kong. Big daddy fair Art Basel and a whole host of satellite events means that artists, collectors, appreciators and wannabes will be descending on Hong Kong for a week of art, culture, and thoughtful chin-stroking. Art Basel Hong Kong
Hong Kong’s number one art event rolls around once more. This year, over half of the 245 galleries attending the four-day show have exhibition spaces in Asia, meaning Basel’s bringing a ton of talent from much closer to home. New this year is the Film section in collaboration with the HK Arts Centre, which will be a 3-day program with screenings of international works, and local work from Kwan Sheung-chi and Christopher Doyle.
May 15-18, Hong Kong Convention Centre, 1 Harbour Rd., Wan Chai, www.artbasel.com/en/Hong-Kong. Tickets are $250-850 from venue or from www.hkticketing.com.
