What Would You Do With One Final Day in Hong Kong?
Bad news: Hong Kong’s days are numbered. Well, day, actually. By this time tomorrow, the city will have been obliterated... by meteor, by deadly virus, by Beijing’s tanks or by the success of the “Godzilla” remake (read our review on p.30). No matter why or how, Hong Kong’s on its way out. We asked these Hongkongers what they’d do with a final day in the SAR.
I spend at least an hour at the gym every morning, no matter what. I have made CEOs and national leaders wait while I finish my workout. It gets me going for the day, and if this is my last day in Hong Kong, then I want to start it right!
After over 46 years in Hong Kong I would have to say goodbye to all my staff who have worked tirelessly to make all my projects successful. Hong Kong has given me so much happiness: that’s why I try to give back whenever possible—whether it is memories at Ocean Park, or great parties in Lan Kwai Fong. I would also find out why Hong Kong was coming to an end, and see if I could do something about it. I have taken on many challenges which people thought were impossible and been successful; this would just be another one.
I would go to The Peak, take one last look at the magnificent skyline and beyond. There is no other place in the world with a more stunning blend of architecture and natural landscape.
Both my children grew up here, went to school here, and we all lived together in the same house that I live in now, so it would be fitting to gather at home like we did in the beginning.
Lan Kwai Fong. If it’s the last night for HK, then you can be sure it will be one heck of a party in LKF. I would make sure all my friends are there with me, as we give the city the send-off it deserves.
