Crop tops: friend or foe? They first appeared in the seventies, were made iconic by Madonna in the eighties, became awkward in the nineties and went over the top in the noughties. We’re not saying any of these retro looks should be revisited, but this year’s cleaner and less midriff-baring approach has us hooked. Avoid going too sexy during the day by keeping either the top or bottom loose. Or simply match high-waisted bottoms with any cut-off top. And remember: you don’t have to look like Britney Spears circa 2000.
