Where to Watch the World Cup 2014
Thanks to the 11-hour time difference between Hong Kong and Brazil, there’s a shortage of bars broadcasting these middle-of-the-night matches live. But we’ve rounded up a few locales offering live streaming, plus several watering holes where you can pull up a seat for next-day replays.

Catch It Live
Inn Side Out
Inn Side Out is showing all the midnight games, and some of the morning matches—call ahead to check. It’s only open to SCAA members, but you can join on the spot. Just $120 per year earns you the right to throw your peanut shells on the floor, plus you’ll get a $150 voucher to spend on weekdays. In other words, they’ll pay you to watch the World Cup. Sounds OK to us.
Allegiance: USA
2/F, South China Athletic Association, 88 Caroline Hill Rd., Causeway Bay, 2895-2900.
Grand Central Bar and Grill
You might have to call it soccer instead of football at the all-American Grand Central Bar & Grill, but that’s a small price to pay to be able to enjoy the games live in this spacious two-story venue. Pile on the burgers and fries, chug down a Brooklyn lager, and try not to be too obnoxious while cheering on team USA.
Allegiance: USA! USA!
Shop R001, 3/F & Roof, Civic Square, Elements, 1 Austin Rd. West, West Kowloon, 2736-4888.
Delaney’s
This is the place to watch the games if you want the full big-screen projection effect. The Wan Chai branch will be showing all the biggies (England, Spain, quarters, semis and of course the final), and you can book rooms upstairs with your own projectors for up to 160 people at a time. Drinks are available throughout and if you’re keen enough to wake up for the early morning games, there’ll be beer and bacon for brekkie.
