In search of some last-minute Christmas knowledge, Xmas Panic? I don’t mind imparting a tip or two.
For Mrs. Know-It-All, I’m getting the iOS app MovieCat 2 ($15), which seamlessly blends cats and trivia games. She will wake up with it loaded on her iPad, and we can spend Christmas morning blasting through movie trivia.
Father Know-It-All is in charge of the kitchen on Christmas Day, and so he gets a copy of Harold McGee’s masterpiece “On Food and Cooking.” ($210 from Swindon Book Co., 13-15 Lock Rd., Tsim Sha Tsui, 2366-8001). The book brings science and cooking together into a delicious, knowledgeable whole.
And as for me—well, what do you get the man who knows everything?
