Nine Foot Massage Parlors to Iron Away Your Stress

Reflexology at its best.

Acupressure & Foot Reflexology Health Care Centre Of The Blind
Have a unique sensory experience at this reflexology center, run by professional masseuses who are vision impaired. Submit yourself to these acupressure and reflexology masters to soothe your aches and pains, as the staff expertly scans your feet for knots and tensions. An hour’s massage—be it a foot massage or a full-body massage—costs just $250. Room 205, Tung Ming Building, 40-42 Des Voeux Rd., Central, 2810-6666

Big Bucket Footbath & Reflexology
As the name suggests, imagine a place full of big buckets for some relaxing baths for your feet. Big Bucket in Causeway Bay offers an aromatic foot bath with squishy little jelly beans before the massage begins. You get to choose the “flavor” of the bath, with options ranging from milk and lavender to ginger and ginseng. Their 60-minute massage, which costs $208, includes a well-pressured 45-minute foot rub, as well as 15 minutes of tension-releasing on your shoulder and neck. Shop 1 & 2, Hoi Kung Court, 264-269 Gloucester Rd.,Causeway Bay, 2572-8611

Gao’s Foot Massage
If old school is what you’re looking for, Gao’s prides itself in keeping to traditional Chinese massage methods, deeply rooted in the art of acupressure. Before its recent move to Wellington Street, Gao’s has been holding court in Lan Kwai Fong since 2003 and has branched out to Mid-Levels; both locations provide relaxing environments where your massage is accompanied by the sound of birdsong in the background, as well as a cup of calming rose tea. The shops are open daily from 10am until midnight: perfect for a pick-me-up on the way home from work. Various branches including 17/F, Silver Fortune Plaza,1 Wellington St., Central, 2810-9219, gaosfootlankwaifong.com

Happy Foot
Happy Foot started as a small reflexology spa in Happy Valley, and expanded to more locations on the island, including in Lan Kwai Fong and Wan Chai. Unfortunately, the one on Lyndhurst Terrace had to close down recently due to rising cost of rent (of course). Treat yourself to a hot tea foot bath and a foot massage that is bound to put you into a blissful state, and leave your feet feeling happy. Various branches including 1/F, 13 Sing Woo Rd., Happy Valley, 2524-2323, happyfoot.hk

Health Touch
Seat yourself in Health Touch’s comfy armchairs and girly floral surrounds, and you’ll be transported to the simple comforts of a countryside cottage away from the busy city. Health Touch offers a range of full-body massages, as well as a 50-minute ($208) foot massage that includes an aromatherapy foot bath, and a 10-minute aroma foot spa. 1/F, Grand View Commercial Building, 29-31 Sugar St., Causeway Bay, 2882-3433, hkhealthtouch.com

Pure Massage
One of the biggest foot massage chain, Pure Massage has 14 branches around town, including the ultra-clean and private space in Wan Chai’s Wharney Guang Dong Hotel with superbly skilled reflexology sifus, all of whom have been hand-picked by the big boss of the company himself. At $204 for 50 minutes, it’s well worth it for a treat. Various branches including 1/F, Annex Block, Wharney Guang Dong Hotel, 57-73 Lockhart Rd., Wan Chai, puremassage.com.hk

Tai Pan Reflexology Beauty & Foot Spa
Rather than sitting up during your foot massage (oh, the indignity!), Tai Pan is equipped with full-recline massage chairs so you can lie flat as you’re treated to either a head and shoulder massage, or a blissful foot rub. Tai Pan is also known for its relaxed atmosphere: after your treatment, you’re encouraged to lie around some more and relax for as long as you like. B/F, Tsim Sha Tsui Mansion, 83 Nathan Rd., Tsim Sha Tsui, 2301-1990, taipanreflexologist.com.hk

Ten Feet Tall
The brainchild of Dragon-i creator Gilbert Yeung, you can tell Ten Feet Tall is not your ordinary local foot massage parlor around the corner. The place is super spacious (with two floors) and the surroundings are inspired by the Caribbean island chic—picture white beach houses with wood fittings and cabanas. In their “Why Not” foot plus neck and shoulder massage ($680 on Mondays-Thursdays, $750 Fridays-Sundays), your feet are first bathed in a bucket of aromatic bubbly water, before two therapists work simultaneously on them with coconut oil-infused lotion, and your neck and shoulders for the next 50 minutes. Cold-pressed juices and teas are served after the massages for a full cleansing experience. 20-21/F, L Place, 139 Queen’s Rd. Central, 2971-1010, tenfeettall.com.hk

Zen Spa
Zen provides a whole range of treatments, many of which incorporate Thai aromatherapy. Treat yourself to a 50-minute foot rub (only $168) and rose aromatherapy foot bath in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui—perfect after a day of shopping at nearby Harbour City. Kick back and relax after your massage with a steaming cup of floral tea. 2/F, 53 Hankow Rd., Tsim Sha Tsui, 2988-1112, zenspa.com.hk
