Venezuelan actress and model Patricia Velasquez launched the non-profit Wayuu Taya Foundation in 2002 to support the indigenous Wayuu people in Guajira, a rural region that saddles Venezuela and Colombia. It offers bags hand-woven by Wayuu women using ancient techniques. The proceeds go towards helping the Wayuu to develop schools, infrastructure and health care services.
each durable bag is one of a kind, with bold embroidered prints embodying the spirit of the Wayuu's Latin American culture while making a strong fashion statement - and supporting a good cause.
the Zulia Morroa bag (far right; HK$1,275), with its mint green and white stripes, makes the perfect beach bag. The Guajira Susu bag (right; HK$1,049), with its red and navy geometric pattern, is both casual and sophisticated.
