This is not only a design collaboration between husband and wife Dara Gerson and Ashley Lowengrub, it's a statement against the harmful social and environmental effects of mining - something the couple's career in the jewellery industry had brought home to them. Gerson and Lowengrub turned their backs on traditional industry practices and created a fair trade, eco-sustainable business. All Alkemie jewellery is handmade from reclaimed metal in downtown Los Angeles.
