Behind the label: Honor

Pavan Shamdasani

Italian-Welsh designer Giovanna Randall, who began her working life as an opera singer, then became a medical student, before settling on luxury fashion. She attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and interned at CNC Costume National in Milan, Italy. Since the launch of the label in Manhattan in 2010, her clothes have been worn by the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Kirsten Dunst and Taylor Swift, according to the Honor website.

Randall is obsessed with cinema, particu-larly French films from the 1960s, and her love of cinematic characters translates well into her collections. While Honor may not turn you into a glittering star of the silver screen, it will certainly help you stand out from the high-street hordes.

the latest spring-summer collection is "girlier" than usual, with lots of white, pink and pale green. We love the doll-like Broken Stripe Guipure lace dress (left; HK$26,500), a nude-coloured piece made from Italian silk. We also like the black orchid-print blouse (below left; HK$8,900) and foliage-print shorts (below right; HK$7,900), for their bold use of patterns.

Honor is available at Harvey Nichols, The Landmark, Central, tel: 3695 3388.
