Korean designer Kathleen Hanhee Kye, 26, who graduated from London's Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design in 2011, launched her eponymous label that year and has since been attracting global attention for unique collections inspired by her dreams, the streets and her friends. The label is a favourite with K-pop stars and retailers such as Harvey Nichols.

Kye's latest autumn-winter collection, Unemployed Youth, which was showcased at this year's New York Fashion Week, is eye-popping, daring and original. Taking inspiration from Seoul Subway Station, she uses a combination of fabrics, neoprene and used wrapping papers to create a vibrant, fresh and exciting look. The oversized clothes, splashed with loud colours and graffiti images, manage to blend the underground with high fashion.

worn with a pair of jeans and plain top, the box-shaped coat (left; HK$8,690) would be sure to brighten up any grey day. Unfortunately, the graffiti-printed ensemble isn't available in Hong Kong. The gold head-to-toe combo would be tricky to pull off so perhaps just go with the jumper (far left; HK$4,590).

Kye is available at Harvey Nichols, The Landmark, Central, tel: 3695 3388.
