Olivia Cognet and Alexandre Colle launched shoe label Apologie last year in Paris, France. Tapping her 10 years of experience in the industry, Cognet, the brand's artistic director, has created a technically impressive and aesthetically beautiful range of shoes. Her résumé boasts stints with such esteemed designers as Sonia Rykiel, Robert Clergerie and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.
for the latest autumn-winter range, Cognet has taken inspiration from Renaissance-era curios, old-world crafts and charming Parisian patisseries to make original, elegant shoes. Handmade in northern Italy, the designs are fashion forward and playful.
the Salvatore pump (above right; US$310), with its big blue eye, is delightful, while the Monica court show (above left; US$415) would add a touch of elegance to any outfit. We also love the black leather Nadège heel (above centre; US$575), with chunky buckles.
