SARAH COTTEE

Suzie Gallehugh, a Texan-born designer based in New York. After graduating from the Big Apple's Fashion Institute of Technology, she began her career interning for the likes of Ralph Rucci before landing a job with luxury tabletop accessories brand Kim Seybert, where she designed products using beadwork and embroidery. The move into jewellery was a natural progression and, in 2009, Gallehugh launched Suzanna Dai, which was quickly picked up by a variety of boutiques, from Scoop in New York to Barneys in Japan.

the vintage-inspired designs, informed by Gallehugh's love of travel and different cultures, evoke the glamour of bygone eras. The jewellery is all made in India, where each item is hand-beaded and backed with leather or suede.

the Prague button earrings (above; HK$1,000) are a beautiful mélange of beads and gems, ideal for a sophisticated evening look. We love the African feel of the fringe necklace (above right; HK$1,050) while the Sofia drop earrings (top left; HK$1,300) are a real statement piece.

Suzanna Dai is available at The9thMuse, 12/F, 1 Lyndhurst Tower, 1 Lyndhurst Terrace, Central, tel: 2537 7598; www.the9thmuse.com.
