Who started it? Former engineer Fé Valvekens was born in Germany to a Filipino mother and a Belgian father but spent most of her adolescence in Paris, France. A certified yoga instructor and mother of three, the Hong Kong-based fashion designer wanted to create a lifestyle brand that was both understated and relaxed. Inspired by a desire to look and feel good while juggling the demands of a career and motherhood, Valvekens established A Day with Fé in June last year.
Why we love it: neutral hues with a few contrasting bright tints colour a wearable and versatile collection. Lycra is transformed into flattering form-fitting separates for the gym and the leggings go well with slouchy jumpers when you need to run an errand or two. Each item is inscribed with a mantra to encourage a moment of reflection. Valvekens looks to Paris for inspiration and if the coolest of French women did work out, which they probably don’t, this is what they would wear. The price points are reasonable, too.
What we’d pick: the Ambre top in taupe (HK$500) is a great workout-wardrobe staple. Flattering thanks to the adjustable string straps and integrated bra, the nude tank can be paired with the Calm leggings in khaki (HK$800; both left). The simple Désir crossover blouse in white (centre; HK$1,100) is elegant daytime attire. Also check out the Hyacinthe top (top right; HK$500), which has a thick halter-neck strap offering ample support to make sure everything stays in place during the pigeon pose.
