1.  Double clique Canada does a roaring trade in fashion-designing twins it seems, with DSquared2’s Dean and Dan Caten being the most famous, but now there’s competition from Byron and Dexter Peart, the brains behind hot accessories label Want Les Essentiels de la Vie. We love the Montreal brand’s ability to mix mid-century elegance with excellent quality to create practical and stylish items such as the Hartsfield leather-trimmed organic cotton canvas holdall (right; HK$3,490) and the Barajas double-compartment leather pouch (left; HK$2,055). Want Les Essentiels de la Vie is available at www.mrporter.com.

2.  Hawaii Five-Ew Fashion, as we all know, is fleeting. What's cool one day is an abject embarrassment the next and anyone who tells you they never succumbed to travesties such as denim dungarees, parachute pants or boot-cut jeans is a liar. So mistakes happen and we should embrace them. H&M has decided to bring back the Hawaiian half-sleeve shirt (pictured; HK$195 each) this summer as part of the floral trend, which, to be frank, has one-season wonder written all over it. But if you're a brave soul who wants to stay on trend then check out the selection. H&M is in Langham Place, Mong Kok, tel: 3580 7621.

3.  Less is moreish Jil Sander is so committed to minimalism that she only uses one "L" to spell her first name. The German designer, who perfected and popularised the less-is-more approach to fashion, left her eponymous label for the third time late last year but her aesthetic still looms large at the house. We are quite taken by the new eyewear range, which builds on the minimalist approach by adding colour blocking to the arms of the glasses. The design touch can be found on both the sunglasses (top; HK$2,140) and the optical eyewear (bottom; HK$1,640). Jil Sander is in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2118 2505.

4.  Nth degree Founded in the sleepy English county of Devon, Jack Wills has become something of a fashion phenomenon. Describing themselves as "fabulously British university outfitters" might seem like a misnomer to those who, like us, actually attended a British university, where the students are, to put it kindly, sartorially challenged. However, the key to Jack Wills' success has been designing clothes that hit the sweet spot of being both fashionable and affordable - the fabled trendy basics. We love this ensemble of Belgrave blazer (HK$2,500), Salcombe shirt (HK$630), Kirkham jeans (HK$880) and Horstead beanie (HK$370; all right), which wouldn't look out of place on the streets of Williamsburg or Stockholm, never mind a university campus in Hull. We also like the relaxed and simple look of Amberhurst crewneck jumper (HK$680) and Barberry slim-cut chinos (HK$680; both far right) that again would be equally at home in the library or the pub. Sadly, the shoes for both looks are not available in Hong Kong. Jack Wills is in Leighton Centre, 77 Leighton Road, Causeway Bay, tel: 3105 1798.
