For Hong Kong-born Kyle Kwan and Sophia Siu, moving offered the chance to create a home that reflected their preference for minimalist design with a distinctive Danish feel.
"We'd been living in a similar apartment in Cyberport for about five years before we bought this flat last year in the same complex," says Kwan. "The new space is on a high floor so we have sweeping sea views and there is a lot of natural light, which fits well with a simple but elegant Danish aesthetic. We brought over our Ligne Roset sofa, artworks and favourite mementos but everything else is new."
Living room: The Leo sofa (HK$58,000), from Ligne Roset (16 Blue Pool Road, Happy Valley, tel: 2891 0913), cushions and rug came from Kyle Kwan and Sophia Siu’s previous home. Y.C. Chen, of Hoo Interior Design (11/F, Hollywood Commercial House, 3 Old Bailey Street, Central, tel: 2979 0600), sourced the Serge Mouille vintage-style light (HK$45,000) from a contact in Paris, France. The Bethan Gray coffee table (HK$20,000) and side table (HK$8,500) were found at Lane Crawford Home Store (Pacific Place, Admiralty, tel: 2118 2288). The two walnut-top cabinets were custom designed by Chen and made by Hoo Interior Design for HK$40,000. The two granite chairs and table on the balcony cost HK$11,100 from Everything Under the Sun (9/F, Horizon Plaza, 2 Lee Wing Street, Ap Lei Chau, tel: 2554 9088). The curtains (HK$60,000 for the living, dining and bedroom/dressing room windows) were made by Harmontex (19/F, Two Chinachem Exchange Square, 338 King’s Road, North Point, tel: 3741 2235). The oak flooring (HK$70 per square foot) was supplied by Beauty Floor Engineering (272A Lockhart Road, Wan Chai, tel: 3427 8640).
