Behind the label: Osman

Who started it? British designer Osman Yousefzada grew up inspired by his mother’s Birmingham-based dressmaking business. From England’s industrial Midlands, he ventured south to take up a spot at London’s Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design, graduating in 2005. The following summer, Yousefzada launched his first collection under the Osman label, which led to collaborative contracts with high-street retailer Mango and jeweller Astley Clarke. 

Why we love it: drawing on his interest in ancient cultures and ethnicity, Osman designs clothes that are precisely structured but softened by his signature draping techniques.  And he has built up a strong following among A-listers; hitting it off with the likes of Thandie Newton, Charlize Theron and Kate Moss is never a bad thing.
