Behind the label: Conservatoire International de Lunettes

The Milan-headquartered eyewear brand was established last year by Giancarlo Soresina, Anna Mainoli and Roberto Russo. The trio work with a collective of designers and researchers from Paris, London, Stockholm and New York to create their repertoire of frames.
the brand has mined the archives, referencing old photographs and vintage films to create modern styles that recall retro vibes from the 1930s to the 80s. The glasses are distinctively design-led and luxurious, and feel old yet new, in the best possible way. All frames are handcrafted and made in Italy. Lenses are reinforced with six layers of anti-reflective, scratch-resistant coating and are impact-resistant with 100 per cent UV protection.
we're smitten with the wood, metal and zylonite Model 406 HB (above; HK$2,607), which comes in a captivating tortoiseshell pattern. The top-heavy circular frames shouldn't be taken too seriously and would be best worn with a casual outfit. This model also comes in aubergine or black, for a more sombre, classic look.
