1. Drama king With the recent passing of Oscar de la Renta, it seems fitting to pay tribute to the fashion giant by snapping up some of his striking pieces of couture. Not in our wildest dreams could we get our hands on one of the Dominican-American designer's bespoke gowns, so we'll have make do with his accessories collection, which is no less impressive. Oscar de la Renta is not a label to be worn casually - the dramatic designs, more often than not, require an occasion. Take the new clutch collection, which channels Iberian flamboyance through heavy embroidery and bold colours. We are particularly fond of the embellished Goa satin box clutch in black (right; HK$12,300) and the Goa embroidered raffia clutch in coral (above right; HK$12,810). Oscar de la Renta is available at net-a-porter.com . 2. Jewel purpose Is there nothing Italian shoe designer René Caovilla won't embellish? Moving on from his signature slippers and sandals, his latest collection features lavishly adorned stilettos, slingbacks and boots. The usual suspects remain in place, with diamanté appliqué and rhinestones dripping off most designs, while lace embroidery on toe-capped oxfords and bejewelled biker boots mark Caovilla's foray into eccentricity this season. We love the Byzantine boot with loud silver and gold crystals on the buckle (above right; HK$11,900) as well as the Swarovski crystal-embellished suede stiletto (above left; HK$10,900). René Caovilla is available at Lane Crawford, IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2118 2288. 3. Right angles A trip to Cos always has us worrying about maxing out our credit cards. Simple cuts and easy colour combinations make every item a potential wardrobe staple. The outerwear collection is especially enviable, with light hues of grey and blue lifting autumnal moods, and oversized coats and pullovers adding to the label’s cosy aesthetic. We are big fans of angular cuts these days; especially the box fit top (top left; HK$790) and the cropped blazer with zip detail (above left; HK$1,350). For those gearing up for a European winter, we recommend the long wool coat (above right; HK$1,500). Cos is at 74 Queen’s Road Central, tel: 3580 7938.
