Who started it? Ho Chi Minh City-headquartered minimalist label Kaarem was founded by a group of American- Vietnamese friends, with designer Chuong Pham as creative director. Kaarem’s designs are modernist with a strong attention to line and form. Much of the silk used in the label’s pieces, which are manufactured in Vietnam, is produced in the Van Phuc silk village, near Hanoi.
Why we love it: Kaarem embraces true craftsmanship, setting itself apart from the manic output of fast-fashion brands. The label creates easy and versatile everyday classics that are smart enough to dress up and cool enough to dress down.
What we’d pick: the sheer simplicity of the black Wind Chime crop top with raised collar (below right; HK$933) will make minimalists weak at the knees. We also like the understated shift dress (below centre; HK$1,710) and the dolman top (below left; HK$1,244).
