Who founded it? Sergio Sciamanna started the Italian accessories brand in 2003, after a trip to Mykonos. The Greek island’s bright colours and vibrant atmosphere inspired him to start a new venture. He had plenty of experience: his family has been in the business of manufacturing goods for luxury brands for more than 50 years, working with the likes of Gianni Versace, Gucci, Prada, Vivienne Westwood and Berluti.
Why we love it: Cromia’s designs are thoughtful and emphasise the blending of functionality with traditional craftsmanship. The brand carries polished daytime looks as well as extravagant evening pieces. For those seeking an injection of cool Hollywood glamour, its latest collection is inspired by Grace Kelly in the 1950s.
What we’d pick: the Marzia shoulder bag (above left; HK$1,590) combines monochrome tweed with a quilted leather pattern, the result being an edgy yet elegant look that would be perfect for a night on the town. Or, providing some show-stopping eye candy, the Persia bag (above centre; HK$2,390), made with leather and mock snakeskin, comes in nine bright colours including teal, cerulean and red. The Otis Hobo Bag (above right; HK$4,390) is another winner, with its strong urban aesthetic.
Where can you get it? Cromia is available at Sogo, 555 Hennessy Road, Causeway Bay, tel: 2831 8960.
