Momo's March: simple, feminine jewellery from UCLA graduate Christina Lu
Alba Pinto

What’s the story? After graduating in design from the University of California, Los Angeles, in the United States, Taiwanese-born Christina Lu was unsure of what to do next. To kill time, she began to design and make her own jewellery.“One day I realised the designs were becoming more and more popular with my friends, but [the thought of starting] my own label didn’t really occur to me.” Eventually, those friends cajoled her into opening a shop and Momo’s March was born.

Why we love it: Lu resists overkill, keeping her simple, feminine designs fresh. The Heirloom collection errs on the traditional side, incorporating jade and metal in designs that hark back to old China. The You, Me & She collection has just launched in Hong Kong and offers pendants personalised with a rune-inspired initial, which would make a perfect gift.

What we’d pick: the You, Me & She alphabet necklace (above right; HK$1,120) is Lu’s take on the “Carrie” necklace from Sex and the City while the gold Cityscape necklace (above centre; HK$1,215) has a more edgy vibe. For something super feminine, there’s the pearl Orchid earrings (above left; HK$1,110).
